Cambridge Battlecode ("the Competition") is a programming competition organised by the Cambridge Battlecode team ("we", "us", "our"), based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. By creating an account on the platform at game.battlecode.cam ("the Platform") or participating in the Competition, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and participate. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or guardian. We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time.
You may register using Discord OAuth or email/password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Each individual may only hold one account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Teams consist of 1 to 4 players. Each player may belong to only one team at a time. Teams self-select as "novice" or "main" category. Players declare their location as "UK" or "international" during registration, which determines eligibility for finals slots. Falsely declaring your location category may result in disqualification.
You retain full ownership of any code you submit to the Competition. By submitting a bot, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to execute, store, and display your submission solely for the purposes of running matches, generating replays, and operating the Competition (including live-streamed tournaments). This licence ends when you delete your submission or account, except that match replays may be retained indefinitely.
You warrant that your submissions are your own original work (or that you have the right to use any included code) and do not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Submissions must not contain malicious code designed to interfere with the match runner, other bots, or any infrastructure.
Bots are executed in a sandboxed environment with enforced time limits. You must not attempt to circumvent the sandbox, access the network, read other bots' files, or exploit the match runner. We reserve the right to disqualify any team that violates fair play, manipulates the ladder, colludes with other teams, or otherwise acts in bad faith. Our decisions on disqualification and prizes are final.
Prize amounts and distribution are at our discretion. Prizes are split equally between team members unless the team agrees otherwise. Winners may be required to provide additional information for prize fulfilment (e.g. bank details, proof of identity). We are not responsible for any tax obligations arising from prizes.
The Platform and Competition are provided "as is". We make no warranties regarding uptime, match accuracy, or ladder availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or participation in the Competition.
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform or Discord. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
For questions about these Terms, contact us at team@battlecode.cam or via our Discord server.
